I've been blogging regularly about handicapping the Featured Tracks that we highlight each day at the top right side of our page. But there are plenty of other tracks with dozens of races available to simulcast players, or folks with Internet accounts. So I thought I would start handicapping a few of the premier races each day at various other tracks. While we're not giving away free
Stat Attack,
Stat Force, or
Tip Sheets for these cards, I figure you might still be interested in some handicapping comments.
And I'll post a link at the end of each Blog entry so you can download the matching sheets if you have a Pay Per View (PPV) account set up with us. As always, those sheets would be $2 each.
So let's start out with a few handicaps on the Derby Lane card on Friday night in St. Petersburg, Florida...
Friday night's 5th race is a grade D contest on the 5/16ths course. On the rail, #1, Tmc’s Tornado, looks like a good prospect. This greyhound has the 2nd-best adjusted time average on the Stat Attack, and the best grade average in the field. The #1 box is fairly strong in grade D, and this dog has a good post record at 30/7-4-6-5. This is the kind of dog I like to use in all slots in the exotics.
Tonight's 6th race is a grade A event at 5/16ths of a mile. This is an interesting handicap because the crowd will support a strong favorite, #3, Kiowa Ice Man. But this dog is starting from a bad box. That #3 post position is only winning 8.46% of the time in grade A, according to the Stat Force. So I want a greyhound that can beat the #3 here. Take a look on the Stat Attack at #1, Millys Uncle. If you check out the Break Chart and Rnning Style box, you'll see that Millys Uncle should benefit as a rail runner when the #2 runs wide. And that #2 dog just might help slow down the #3 favorite as well! Millys Uncle has been competitive in the last few races, so you know he can be a contender here. I would expect reasonably good odds on this dog, and I think Millys Uncle will be a good play in all positions in the trifecta and superfecta wagers.
I see a nice opportunity coming in the 10th race, another grade A contest. I expect the crowd will put some money on the #6 runner, Spock, who is showing a couple of wins in a row. The crowd almost always overplays the "form" greyhound, so I'm looking for a spoiler here. My eye goes to the rail, and a choice between the #1, Uss Race Pocono, and the #2, Pretty Prairie. While the #2 has a great post record, I'm going with Uss Race Pocono due to his better grade average, and his better in-grade and in-post averages on the Stat Force. The odds won't be real high on #1, but they're likely to be far better than you would get on #3!
That's a quick look at a few of the races on Friday night at Derby Lane. If you would like to download copies of our sheets for this card, here are the links: Derby Lane Friday Stat Attack and the Stat Force and the Tip Sheet. You'll need to have a Pay Per View (PPV) account set up with us, and the charge is $2 per sheet, as always. And if you need to set up a Pay Per View account, here's how!
Thanks, and I hope you have some good luck Friday night at Derby Lane!

Handicapping Results from Derby Lane
My first play on Friday night came in the 5th race on #1, Tmc’s Tornado. This greyhound went to post at 2.1-1 odds and broke 5th. Tmc’s Tornado showed some decent late speed, moving up into 2nd place at the end, four lengths behind the winning favorite.
I scored another 2nd-place finish in the 6th race. My key was the #1 runner, Millys Uncle. This greyhound broke 5th after going to post at 3.3-1 odds. Millys Uncle showed some good acceleration and took over 2nd place at the 1/8th call. But that was as good as it was going to get, as Millys Uncle finished 2nd, just one length away from the winner.
My selection in the 10th race, #1, Uss Race Pocono, broke 3rd but ran into trouble on the turn. By the 1/8th call Uss Race Pocono was in 6th place. With a slight improvement on the stretch, Uss Race Pocono finished in 5th place, eight lengths back. I has a lot of company in my disappointment here, as Uss Race Pocono was also the crowd favorite, going to post at 2.2-1 odds.
I hope you all had some better luck at Derby Lane on Friday night. I'll be trying again on Saturday night, so I hope you'll join me again for another shot. Have some fun over the July 4th weekend!
